Origami

As you can see from the picture of my street below, we are back to overcast. I am so glad that I was able to get out and enjoy the sun yesterday, it truly was a blessing.



Today I decided to look up some how to directions for Origami. I started out with great ambitions and went for butterfly and flower. After about fifteen tries and a lot of frustration, I looked up Origami for kids, and finally ended up with two success stories, I finished a rabbit and a box.





Today Bradley and I have a new found respect for the art of Origami!

Bradley Goes to Central Park

This morning I awoke to find that the sun was out, and in the winter, when the sun is out, you have to take advantage of it so I decided to take Bradley to Central Park for the first time.





During the summer and fall, a lot of roller skaters are out, and one of my favorite things is to sit and watch them skate. Bradley did exceptionally well, being that there was so many people out.





He sat with me on a bench for hours, just watching the world go by. Some people take from the city and some people add to it’s character, and Central Park is full of the kind of characters that add to it. So many street performers, and exocentric people that appear as though they have stepped out of a book.



I thank God for our day in the sun, it felt like a prelude to the summer months to come, and we soaked up every minute of it.

Micah and Ellie

I had a wonderful Friday morning off, mostly taking care of adult responsibilities, such as laundry and cleaning, but it was relaxing. In the evening I planned on babysitting for a dear, friend of mine Susanna. She has two beautiful children, Micah and Ellie, whom I adore.

On my walk to their apartment I stopped off at a deli, just a few blocks away. All the deli’s are so similar, that I feel I have already been to them all but it is always worth checking it out. You can find cheap deals on snaky items.

I had a fun night playing with the kiddos. Micah is especially at a fun age were he is starting to talk a lot and is always saying the cutest things.

I feel very blessed to have them as a part of my life.

Life at the Dakota

I love starting a new book! Today on my way to work, I began reading Life at the Dakota. It is a book that covers a lot of social history and the lives of the rich who lived in an apartment building called the Dakota, built in 1884.

As early as 1870, an angry reader wrote the New York Times, demanding to know why the city was keeping empty land in Central Park “while the middle classes are being driven out of the city by excessive rents.”.

So far I am finding the book to be fascinating, as it describes in such a intriguing way the beginnings of this city, I have learned so much in only two chapters.

My favorite thing about finding a book I enjoy is that it makes the train ride seem so much faster.

You almost feel disappointed to reach your destination because you just want to keep reading.

Hummus Kitchen

Walking along after work today with a friend and contemplating whether I was hungry enough for dinner, we passed a very interesting restaurant called Hummus Kitchen located on 9th Ave near 51st Street in a part of Manhattan they call Hell’s Kitchen. I have always enjoyed hummus so I just had to try it.

Mt. Prospect Park

I have been wanting for sometime to take Bradley to Prospect Park to walk, now that he has become braver, but it hasn’t been possible since it gets dark so quickly in the winter. But being that I worked a morning shift today, I rushed home, so that we would have some day light left for a nice walk.

Along the way we passed the beautiful Brooklyn Museum...

And the entrance is right next to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens...

The section that we went to is were you can find a lot of dog owners walking their dogs and a nice big field were the dogs can run around off the leash.

Bradley is just getting use to taking walks so he isn’t trustworthy enough to be let off the leash but he loves watching the other dogs.

It was good exercise for both of us, so I definitely plan on making a point to take advantage of this beautiful park, it is just too close not to!

Glass Shop

Decided to take a walk when I got home and keep my something new local. So I tried a coffee shop around the corner from my apartment called the Glass Shop.

It was very quant inside, peaceful atmosphere, free Wi-Fi…definitely plan to go there to study or read from time to time.

I am trying to stay away from coffee at the moment so I went for a nice cup of hot tea.

Even though it was very nice inside I decided to return home to relax and sip my tea....and enjoy my Bradley.
